It's part of the convenience of a modern house when music or radio stations can be heard throughout the building via a music system, and operating units are located in the various rooms with which the sounds can be varied and controlled in a sophisticated manner.

The Revox multiroom system ensures perfect sound quality all around the house. Up to 32 additional rooms can be supplied with music via the Revox M51 central unit. In the process it's possible to define four different listening zones of up to eight rooms each. Each listening zone can access its own music.

In cooperation with Revox, Gira offers the M218 operating unit and the M217 display unit. Using these control devices, the Revox multiroom system can easily be operated from any room and a uniform appearance that matches the remaining electrical installation is guaranteed.

In addition, integration in the KNX/EIB system via the Gira HomeServer 3 is possible, enabling music control via a PC, mobile phone or PDA.

The components

The Revox multiroom system can easily be controlled from any room via the new operating units from Gira. The Gira M218 Operating Unit forms the basis. With a single press of a button, it can be used to activate the Revox system - including volume control and station checking.

The Gira M217 Display Unit expands the control options. The display indicates information on the source currently played. And in addition to selecting a track or station, up to four timer functions can be programmed in each room.

Ideally, the Gira M218 operating unit and the Gira M217 display unit are combined in a 2-gang cover frame to produce the Gira M217/M218 control unit.

System design

Up to 32 additional rooms can be supplied with music in perfect sound quality via the Revox M51 central unit. The system offers access to a CD/DVD player and up to 4 FM tuner units, enabling various stations to be heard around the house. Four different listening zones of up to eight rooms each can be defined in up to 32 rooms. The Gira operating units for controlling the system are available in each room For the secondary rooms, Revox M219 room amplifiers are required, which supply the local loudspeakers. The optional integration of a Revox M37 audio server enables the management of an extensive music collection of up to 400 hrs. in length.
